Our Review of Fera Pet Organics: Vet Formulated Supplements Backed by Science

Most dog owners want the best for their dogs, and that includes providing them with the best nutrition. Ideally your dog’s food would supply all of the nutrients their bodies need, but often that’s not the case. Supplementing can help you maintain, prevent and treat health concerns by providing nutrients that your dog’s food doesn’t provide. We have six dogs, and we’ve tried many different supplements over the past 10 years. One supplement brand that has remained one of our favorites over the years is Fera Pet Organics!

About Fera Pet Organics

Fera Pet Organics was created by Veterinarian Michelle Dulake when she realized the only readily available supplements were mediocre at best. She began formulating her own supplements using a combination of Eastern and Western medicines, focusing on high quality ingredients and correct dosing. Fera Pet only uses the best ingredients from trusted suppliers and has earned the NASC (National Animal Supplement Council) Quality Seal. This seal means that they pass a comprehensive third-party audit every two years and maintain ongoing compliance with rigorous NASC quality standards.

Supplements we use (and why)

Hip & Joint Support

With six large dogs, you can probably guess the most important supplement we use daily - Hip & Joint Support. While our dogs have no existing hip or joint issues, prevention is key in these breeds.

By glancing at the Active Ingredients List, you can see what a powerhouse this supplement is. It includes many of the ingredients that are proven to support bone health and joint function, including Organic Turmeric, Glucosamine, Chondroitin, MSM and Green Lipped Mussel. This is an excellent daily chew if your dog has any existing issues or if your dog is a large dog breed prone to hip & joint issues (like German Shepherds).

Gut Health

There are two supplements we give for digestive health, USDA Organic Probiotics with Prebiotics and Pumpkin Plus Fiber Support. Illnesses and allergies can cause an imbalance in the digestive system, and Probiotics can help restore that balance by reintroducing beneficial microorganisms. This supplement is packed with 12 living strains with 5 billion CFUs and contains organic prebiotics that help support the growth of beneficial bacteria.

Koba is currently on antibiotics for a toe infection, and antibiotics are known for killing both healthy and bad bacteria in the gut. Following his round of antibiotics, I will be giving him this Probiotic Supplement to help reintroduce good bacteria into his gut.

We also give our dogs Fera’s Pumpkin Supplement any time our dogs have loose stools. This is a high fiber supplement that includes not only pumpkin seeds, but coconut, apple and ginger that work to calm the digestive tract. Their stools always firm up within a day or two after giving this supplement!

Skin & Coat

Many people comment on our dog’s shiny and soft coats, and fish oil is our secret! Fera Pet’s Fish Oil contains the highest amounts of EPA and DHA Omega-3’s compared to other leading brands and contains no additives or fillers. This is an excellent daily topper that most dogs are going to naturally love the taste of!

Immune System Support

Any time our dog’s have an injury or get sick, I give them a mushroom supplement to help improve their immune system. Mushrooms are commonly used as anticancer, anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting supplements, and they have powerful healing properties. Fera’s Mushroom Supplement contains 10 organic mushrooms that contain high levels Beta glucans, which are proven to increase the effectiveness and activity of immune system cells. This is one of our favorite supplements to have on hand!

Calming Supplement

We use this supplement from Fera Pet 30 minutes before a thunderstorm with Ryker and have noticed her significantly calmer. While before she would pace, pant and whine, she’s able to sleep calmly on our bed during a thunderstorm after taking this supplement. It contains natural ingredients like Passion Flower Valerian Root, and Ginger that help promote relaxation and reduce stress. See our Reel on Fera’s Calming Supplement.

Goat Milk Toppers

I was so excited when Fera Pet released their Goat Milk Toppers in 2023! Goat’s milk has been one of my favorite supplements to give my dogs for years. It’s loaded with probiotics, great for lactose intolerant dogs and dog’s just love it!  It is by far my favorite food topper! However, sourcing goats milk consistently for 6 dogs can be tough - it’s difficult to find fresh milk and it’s expensive to buy at the pet store.

That’s why I was so excited when Fera Pet released their dehydrated goats milk - simply rehydrate and feed! I like to sprinkle it on their kibble, mix and rehydrate with warm water. This has been my favorite supplement to use with Roman, who is picky with dry kibble. He loves this goat’s milk and licks his bowl clean now!

Fera Pet took this new supplement a step further by adding additional benefits. They have five varieties - Multivitamin, Hip & Joint, Skin & Coat, Calm and Immune. This means if you have a picky dog who doesn’t want to eat their chewables or powder supplement, you can give them the goat milk variety instead. Chances are, they’ll love it!

Summary

Most pet parents these days are using supplements, and Fera Pet should be at the top of their list. Vet formulated and high quality ingredients, these are some of the best pet supplements on the market. While we think all of their supplements are winners, our absolute favorite is their Goat Milk Toppers! We think by infusing their goats milk with extra benefits, they’ve created a real winning supplement that hasn’t been done before. Use our code JAKOBA to save 10% at ferapetorganics.com
